Before hiring fresh eyes to proofread and edit your work, you can double-check your document by following these helpful tips:

  • Use a physical copy for the final read through
  • Take your time proofreading your document
  • Read aloud to help find errors (this slows you down)
  • Check that your writing fulfils the purpose of the document
  • Use Spell Check but don’t rely on it
  • Use a dictionary where you’re not sure about spelling
  • Look out for homonyms such as they’re, their, there but also compliment and complement, principal and principle, practise and practice, flair and flare etc…
