Submissions are now open for Pacific Islander writers in the genre of fiction and non-fiction.
Your submission must include a synopsis and an original single-authored sample (30 pages or 3 chapters) of a manuscript.
We are looking for fresh, original storylines, strong engaging characters, a flair for language and an authentic voice.
Your submission must not have been previously published.
All Pacific Islander writers writing in English are eligible to enter.
Submissions are open until midnight on 31 January 2022.
Guidelines
Please read our submission guidelines before contacting us with queries about this opportunity.
· Submissions must be in English from Pacific Islanders in any location.
· Submissions must not have been previously published, including online.
· Submit only your synopsis and first three chapters of your manuscript.
· Submissions should be double-spaced and sent as a word document.
· We can only consider one manuscript per person at a time.
· Please note word count of completed works: 40,000-120,000 words.
· Do not submit the full manuscript unless you are invited to do so.
· We are only considering fiction and non-fiction at this time.
· If you do not meet these guidelines, your manuscript will not be considered.

Title Sheet
Your title sheet must include the following:
· Title
· Author
· Previous publishing history, awards and residencies
· Brief bio including ancestry
· Genre of work
· One sentence summary of your submitted work
· Comparison title
· Recent favourite read
What’s next?
When you send us your submission, you’ll receive an email acknowledging receipt. Pacific Pencil will contact shortlisted submissions by mid-March 2022 if we wish to pursue your project. This will include individual editorial advice for submissions with high potential and guidance through our publishing process. We will make every effort to provide useful feedback to unsuccessful submissions.
